medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I have posted a call for papers on the wells-and-spas list, thinking
that a session on well cults would fit with this year's Natural World
theme. We have so far 4 proposals, enough for a session + back-up. Some
of the ideas are tending towards the natural environment of
pilgrimage/shrines generally as well as wells, so we wondered whether
there was potential for another session there.

'Common experience sheweth, that where a change hath been made of things
advisedly established (no evident necessity so requiring), sundry
inconveniences have thereupon ensued; and those many times more and
greater than the evils, that were intended to be remedied by such
change.' (from the Preface to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer)
