medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I just came up with another legal wrinkle on this issue:
Clement V, in the Council of Vienne, prohibits professed mendicants who
transfer to a non-mendicant order from having a voice in the new
community's chapter; see Constitutiones clementinae 3.9.1, c. ut
professores. This sounds as if Clement was discouraging transfers.
