FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Routledge Journals and the American Planning Association (APA) are proud
to announce a new publishing partnership.
In 2008, Routledge will become the publisher of the Journal of the
American Planning Association. For more than 70 years the quarterly has
published original research, commentaries and book reviews of the highest
quality, engaging its readers in building strong, vibrant communities. It
is one of the world’s most respected planning journals, revered by
practising planners, policymakers and scholars for its authority,
independence, and vision.
Routledge will also publish Planning & Environmental Law from 2008, the
APA’s must-read monthly digest of the latest state and federal court
decisions and legislation on planning and environmental management.
Planning & Environmental Law incorporates PEL Online, a comprehensive
database which combines the perceptive commentaries and targeted abstracts
of the journal into a powerful online research tool.
Paul Farmer, Executive Director of the APA, commented: “JAPA is the
planning journal of record in the U.S. and the most respected journal of
its type in the world. Our partnership with Routledge will widen the
JAPA’s reach even more. PEL, as the oldest publication of its type in the
U.S., will also reach more readers and will continue to expand its already
unique web functions.”
Dr David Green, Global Publishing Director of Routledge Journals,
said: “It is a privilege for Routledge Journals to be awarded the
Publishing contract for such a prestigious Association. This partnership
reinforces Routledge’s position as the pre-eminent international publisher
in Planning and Urban Studies and, demonstrates our commitment to this
subject area. The partnership will enable the Association to extend the
global reach of its flagship publications, and jointly we shall develop
exciting, new generation information products and services for the
planning communities.”
