Time to check your copy of Rope again, Nicky. The first shot of Rope
is an exterior (studio?) shot, followed by a cut to the interior with
the gay couple strangling their victim.
The reel changes ARE edits (in the sense of 'cuts'), btw.
And is there a consensus on exactly how many of these edits are in
the film?

PS: I would like to withdraw my mention of Snow's Région centrale.
It's been over twenty years since I saw it last (besides the
technical impossibility of it being in one take - apologies).
