I'm an unabashed Tolkien fan (I never forgave CS Lewis for banishing Susan
from heaven for wearing stockings and makeup but I admit, he writes really
well for children). So I cut Tolkien a bit of slack: I think he was ahead of
the game on the environment. Moorcock does a class analysis of the Lord of
the Rings, which makes some fair points and worth reading...
