Dear colleagues
I am interested to know if any library authority is considering or is
using wi-fi technology to change how they deliver their enquiry and
information services. I am thinking along the lines of freeing enquiry
staff from behind the information desk so they can floor walk. They would
then be able to answer enquiries from customers using some sort of hand
help device, such as a laptop, PDA, or tablet PC. The idea is to be able
to answer customer requests for information where ever the customer is in
the library. I see this as a way of discovering questions that might
never be asked, offering assistance on the library floor, promoting our
services and staff development.
Any comments and feedback is welcome and I will also post a summary of
responses.
Thank you
