Martin, I'll file your concerns for the next time we edit the policies. No
doubt they could be improved. We had a considerable discussion on the list a
couple of weeks ago & most people who commented seemed to understand what we
were trying to say, so I'm not inclined to re-edit them at the moment. Brief
responses:
1. You're right about language, but this is a policy statement not a
theoretical treatise. I take your editorial suggestions seriously, though.
Next time we pull this out.
3. Yes. I had written a narrower definition, but the clear sense of the
membership- was to be as open as possible. Still, the list managers want
there to be some statement about this being primarily a poetry list.
4. I disagree.
6. That would be nice, but if you wrote it, you own it & you can do what you
want with it.
