Of course, if all universities made surrendering the
copyright a condition of submitting any work for assessment,
and made that policy public, then this site would not be
able to accept any work from students (because I doubt that
many students would produce work just for submission to the
site ... ) Such a policy would also clarify the position in
relation to duplication (ie submitting the same piece of
work for more than one assignment/credit) since it would be
clear to the student that, once the piece of work had been
submitted for assessment, it no longer belonged to the
student. But perhaps there are arguments against such a policy?
