This concurs with someone else's sentiment that Bordwell is a 'legend'
in film theory (whether or not we always agree with him). His writing
on HK film has been very influencial I would say, its nice to see him
being recognised.

Asian Film Awards to honor Siao and Bordwell

HONG KONG – Legendary Hong Kong actress Josephine Siao Fong Fong and
movie theorist David Bordwell are to receive special honors at next
week's inaugural Asian Film Awards ceremony.
The ceremony next Tuesday (March 20) is one of the opening events of
the three week Entertainment Expo, which also spans FilMart, the HAF
project market, the Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum and the
Hong Kong Int'l Film Fest.
Siao, who is believed to have starred in more Hong Kong movies than
any other actor and won the 1995 Berlin fest's 'Silver Bear' for her
role in "Summer Snow," will receive kudos for her 'Outstanding
Contribution to Asian Cinema.'
Bordwell, the founder of cognitive film theory and a specialist in
Hong Kong cinema, will receive a prize for 'Excellence in Scholarship
in Asian Cinema."
Stars expected to attend the glitzy bash include Luc Besson, Korean
superstars Rain and Lee Byung-hun, "The Host" helmer Bong Joon-ho,
Jafar Panahi, Hirokazu Kore-eda and Kiyoshi Kurosawa. Hong Kong-based
helming stars Andrew Lau Wai-keung and Johnnie To are also expected to
tread the red carpet.
