This reminds me SOOOO much of the old guard in West Germany back in the
60s telling people to "go over there & see what it's like" if you
criticised or dared to demonstrate against the Federal State (Geht doch
nach drüben!). A judge who had been active during the Nazi period (most
of them but the bloodiest were kept of course) told me that the
demonstrators (against the emergency laws, whatever) were paid by the
*Democratic Republic* (he said "The East" of course) in its (undeniable)
drive to whip up subversion. (Funny nobody I knew ever had any money,
then.) I met this judge as the guest of a relative of an aristocratic
friend of mine - who was also a demonstrator out of disgust with the way
postwar Germany had gone.
But what's the use.
