medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I find I practically live in the Warburg Institute when doing research- on
religion and the humanities in general I use it much more than the IHR,
(both are parts of London University but open to others)

I thoroughly agree about the London Library. Also useful for the
independent scholar in and around London is the
Institute of Historical Research,
University of London
Senate House
Malet Street,
London WC1E 7HU
0207 636 0272.
You can belong to either the Institute or the Friends of the Institute (a
bargain at £25 a year) and use the very good reference library. Also, a
great boon to the isolated independent scholar is the series of seminars
that are held in the Institute. Most of them start at around 5 p.m, which,
while not ideal for people in employment, is better than mid-day seminars.
The web site address is www.history.ac.uk. This contains details of
seminars
and the library.
Others may be able to say whether it is worth joining the Leeds Medieval
Institute?
Regards,
Rosemary Hayes
