thanks for that corrective, of course you are right to point out the ways in which the theoretical mode has often enabled a
clearer view of the practice and of course shot reverse shot is the prime example in relation to the conceptualisation of
'suture'.
I just wondered if any other salon members have found themselves looking at form in a more concentrated way lately, or is it
just my response to the present situation. I know that Bordwell's last couple of books have looked in some detail at mise en
scene, but as usual with prof. B. the analysis can often empty out the political/ideological. Nevertheless these books have been
useful in their insistence on paying attention to the screen.
