Many thanks to those of you who replied to my question
about treating a chol of 14.8 mmol// in a man with
alcoholic liver disease (no EtOH for 2/12), xanthelasmata
, but no tendon xanthoma, arcus or family history of CHD.
Issue of Lipoprotein X was raised, measurement of apo B,
and whether a statin should be used (his ALT is normal).
Doesn't seem to be much evidence to guide on this one.
Most would try a statin at low dose and I think that this
is what I'll end up doing too!
Many thanks
Rob
