Apologies for cross-posting
I would be grateful if you could bring this PhD studentship, which is
available from October 2007, to the attention of interested candidates.
Many thanks,
Dwayne Heard.
Understanding oxidants and oxidation in and over a South East Asian
tropical rainforest
Supervisors: Professor Dwayne Heard (School of Chemistry) and Dr Mat Evans
(School of Earth and Environment)
OP3 is a large NERC funded project to investigate the composition over, and
impact of South East Asian rainforests on the composition of the
atmosphere. This studentship will focus on the measurement and
interpretation of the hydroxyl radical and the subsequent modelling of
these data. The measurements will take place both within the forest and
from an aircraft during field campaigns occurring in 2008. The
interpretation will be based on a variety of modelling frameworks that are
available within the Institute for Atmospheric Science. The focus will be
on the impact of biogenic hydrocarbons emitted by the trees on the
oxidizing capacity locally, and regionally. The studentship is within the
Institute for Atmospheric Science which straddles the School of Chemistry,
and School of Earth and Environment.
