There are some references & examples of monuments recording thankful villages at
http://www.fylde.demon.co.uk/thankful.htm, but most seem to be war memorials and rolls of honour in the church. Plus this website lists the 42, and discusses the history of the term. Very interesting, although as with all things, there is considerable debate and discussion.
Its good to hear these things are still being actively commemorated locally & sorry if earlier email seemed a little flippant - it wasn't intended as such.

I hadn't heard of this either. Interesting... the link from Wikipedia does have slightly more villages that survived unscathed (42), including one in Leicestershire.
