Dear colleagues,
we would like to draw your attention to the following session on
TECONICS AND MAGMATISM at the EGU General Assembly 2007 (April 15-20th)
in Vienna, Austria.
*TS8.1*:* Tectonics and magmatism: Interactions from the grain- to the
orogen-scale*
Partial melting drastically changes the rheology of the crust. This
process promotes the localization of deformation from the grain-scale to
the orogen-scale, affecting the paths of exhumation, the patterns of
faulting, and the topography of orogens. On the other hand, melt
chemistry, melt segregation, transport and emplacement are largely
controlled by deformation and by the specific type of tectonic setting.
We invite contributions from natural studies, analogue experiments, and
numerical models, dealing with deformation of melt-bearing rocks and
partial melting of tectonically active regions
Invited speaker: Roberto Weinberg, Monash University, Australia
Convenors: Claudio Rosenberg FU Berlin (D), [log in to unmask]
Alfons Berger: University of Bern (CH), [log in to unmask]
Deadline for receipt of abstracts is the 15th of January 2007
