medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
There's been a flurry on the letters page of the TLS recently, mostly
> occasioned by one Ian Mortimer (who might be expected to be biased...) who
> has written a book on the subject, but no one takes that seriously.
Ian Mortimer probably is biased like all historians (:-)) but having read
his argument myself I find it convincing.
MORTIMER, Ian. "The Greatest Traitor: The Life of Sir Roger Mortimer, ruler
of England 1327-1330.Cape 2003.
"Chapter Twelve Revisited" pp244-268.
Certainly the letter of Manuele de Fieschi takes some explaining .....
So why does "no one" take the hypothesis seriously ?
