Hi All
Downloading of music doesn't appear to be harming album sales commercially ..with the exception of compilation titles ..down 10% this year... album titles slightly up.
I was speaking to someone from Fopp who report business is booming and they are still expanding. We have good contacts with Fopp, they sponsor a lot of our music based events. Theu don't see libraries as a threat, more like partners in promoting awareness of the wider world of music.
Ques. If the commercial world can successfully compete, adapt and connect with technological change why shouldn't we?
Angus District may be withdrawing their audio service because of 'a declining level of public demand'...interrogate their on line audio catalogue and you will wonder how they ever thought they were providing a service in the first place! Dumbing down to subterranean depths.
Rant over
Cheers
Garry
