Perhaps a slightly unusual request, but I'm hoping that some of you out there may have come across this before and can help! We have recently consulted staff about wearing name badges, and have come to an agreement that all staff will wear name badges, though if people prefer a pseudonym that would be acceptable. Along with the name badges we ordered new, colourful lanyards which also help customers identify staff quickly. However, it has been pointed out that the lanyards we have ordered do not have a "quick release" on them, so in theory, if the lanyard/badge was to get caught in something, or was grabbed by a customer, the member of staff would not be able to release themselves quickly.
Have any other libraries found this to be a problem?
We are already consulting with our local health and safety advisor to see if we should re-order lanyards with quick release.
I will summarise for the list
Thanks
Lucy
