Yes, basic e-communication hygiene is desired.
Something else has been bothering me about the mailing
list. Specifically, it is being used as a discussion
group forum. The discussion is fine in principle.
Unfortuately, it is creating a very messy backlog of
not-yet read and, no less important, unorganized
emails in my account.
For example, someone makes a first posting. Other
people reply to that posting. Yet more people reply to
the initial replies, etc.
An internet bulletin board format would be much more
appropriate for these sorts of exchanges. Under one
entry a reader would find all comments, and the
'discussion' could be much more easily followed.
Emails work best for announcements and information of
general interest to the group.
I'd personally appreciate a different format for the
open discussions as such.
