Nick,
I do believe that two lists, serving two different
functions, is a good idea.
I do not know how easy it will be to provide
guidelines for usage. Your own emails regarding the
website or the press release are good examples of
general announcements that are appropriate for the
first list. General questions and queries, requests
for information and resources, also appear to fit this
category.
Pure discussion, such as that related to the
definition of 'wisdom', fit the second category.
However, definitions and guidelines are rarely
completely effective in grey areas. And there will
always be a grey area where, eg, some topic in list
one bleeds into a discussion more appropriate for list
two.
Perhaps what is required among the group members is
some quantity of applied wisdom in this grey area?
