medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
On a very few occasions Paris type calendars include against April 12th.
the name Lucien (or Luc). An example of this is to be seen in Parks, Mss
of Keble College Oxford, No.39 - Horae, Use of Paris (plate on page 170
shows Lucien). I have been for some time now trying to find out who this
Lucien is but with no success. Or is it a translation date for one of
the
recognised Luciens? Can anyone assists me please?
I have an April leaf with a saint for every day written alternately in red
and blue with the major feasts in gold. On the 12th. is Luc in gold.
The feast was obviously very important to the person who had the Book of
Hours written or it was important to the place of Use of that Book of
Hours. Can anyone throw any light on this please?
Many thankS.
Roger Martin.
