medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

it just seemed like the easiest explanation for dreaming up a vehicle by which
it might have survived from 1156 --the date of the bishop's death-- to
somewhere in the 1210s or early 20s --when the tombs were renovated.
anything is *possible*, obviously, but that explanation seems most likely to
me.
i'm open to other, even more off-the-wall ones, however.
no matter how it survived, one thing is clear: the seal is mid-12th c. and was
attached to an early 13th c. charter, so the seal (ring) wasn't broken on the
death of the original holder of it (whether or not he was the bishop).
