medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Again, based on what I have seen in Greece, you should consider that
this sleeping-or-vigil-at churches/wells/etc. functions as a
mini-vacation for a culture that knows nothing of vacations & couldn't
afford them anyway. It is particularly a way for women to get away from
the usual grind for a day or so, meet new people, etc. And if a miracle
is thrown in, that's good, too.
