CILIP are doing so much at the moment with their new qualifications for Information and Library workers at all levels that I am sure you must be involving them in planning this alongside the sector skills council.

A one day conference to introduce the work of the sector skills council and to present and discuss the updating of national occupational standards (NOS) and the design of appropriate new vocational qualifications (VQs). The day
will allow for the collection of feedback from the sector that will inform further work on these issues.
Objectives of the day. Specific objectives of the day are to:
a. Clarify the roles of LLUK and MLA in relation to the development of new NOS and VQs and explain the process of developing new NOS.
b. Explore initial ideas on what new NOS and VQs for our sector might look like.
e. Explore ways of opening up the profession; diversifying the workforce and developing new entry routes.
