The Institute is pleased to announce the next round of
Subventions for Publications in Germanic Studies (closing date: 31 October 2006)
Grants are offered under this scheme to members of staff working in the Germanic field at British and Irish Universities to assist in publishing their work. The award is made for publications which can demonstrate an essentially German-related content.
One award is made in the spring and autumn each year. The grant has a value of £500 and is offered on a non-repayable basis; however, the Institute's assistance must be acknowledged in the resulting publication, and a copy of the volume must be donated by the author(s)/editor(s) to the Germanic Studies Library.
Applicants should be in receipt of an offer of publication at the time of applying, and be able to show that other funding sources have been sought and/or obtained. Applications, not exceeding eight pages in total, should be made using the summary form (pdf) accessible at http://igrs.sas.ac.uk/publications/SubventionsGermanForm.pdf, and must include the following:
* a copy of the report commissioned by the publishing house or, where this is not available, a copy of an independent reader's evaluation,
* a summary of the contents, including résumé of each chapter/contribution, and
* a copy of the publisher's offer of publication, including production costs.
Applications should be sent to Dr Godela Weiss-Sussex <mailto:[log in to unmask]> at the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies, University of London, Senate House, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU.
