JOHN DRYDEN TRANSLATION COMPETITION 2006
The British Comparative Literature Association and the British Centre
for Literary Translation (University of East Anglia) are pleased to
announce their continued joint sponsorship of a translation competition
for 2006. Prizes will be awarded for the best unpublished literary
translations from any language into English. Literary translation
includes poetry, prose or drama, from any period; entries may be up to
25 double-spaced pages in length.
The entry fee is five pounds sterling per entry. If you join the BCLA
before 31 January 2006, you may submit one entry free of charge.
CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF ENTRIES: 12 February 2006.
First prize: 350 pounds; second prize: 200 pounds; third prize: 100
pounds. Other entries may receive commendations. Prize-winners will
be announced in July 2006, and prizes will be presented later in the
year. Winning entries will be published in full on the BCLA website,
and extracts from winning entries are eligible for publication in the
BCLA journal Comparative Critical Studies.
