Dear list,
Here is a speech made by Freeman Dyson, a physicist who made an important
and groundbreaking contribution to science by reconciling approaches of
Feynman and Schwinger. He was made a professor without a PhD and according
to the speech, fought against the PhD paradigm for his entire career and why
did thought it was justified to do so. Perhaps this can be a countervailing
voice to the discussion on why PhD is seen as important for Design.
