I'm slightly concerned that by calling it information standard or documentation standard then MIDAS, the name, is somewhat redundant.

Also if it's Information Standard for the UK then it's ISUK
Or if it's Documentation Standard for the UK then it's DoSUK

Either way it SUKs ;-)

`MIDAS: The Information Standard for the UK Historic Environment'

would be the other option if people are preferring `Information', of
course....

Dear Isabel,

An excellent suggestion - thank you very much.

I am getting feed back from various sources. 'Documentation' seems to
be regarded as rather limiting compared to the more inclusive and open
'Information Standard'. Any comments to this?

Candidate names:

`MIDAS: The Documentation Standard for the UK Historic Environment'

'MIDAS Heritage: The UK Historic Environment Documentation /
Information Standard'

Best wishes,

Tanja

Hi Tanja and MIDAS team

Two immediate responses:

In a straight choice between `Documentation' and `Information' I'd go
with the former for MIDAS - it's a closer description.

And my first impulse is to slightly alter and swap the order of the
phrase, why not: `MIDAS: The Documentation Standard for the UK Historic
Environment' ? It's what it is....

all best wishes

Isabel

Subject: [FISH] MIDAS Heritage logo

Dear FISH member,

The MIDAS Heritage project needs to develop a logo for promotional
purposes in advance of publication of the online manual in 2007. MIDAS
Heritage will be a data standards manual for recording historic
environment information. Before we proceed with a logo specification, we
would like to know your views on the strap line that will go with 'MIDAS
Heritage'. We think 'MIDAS Heritage: the UK Historic Environment
Documentation Standard' is both clear and descriptive. The other
alternative is 'MIDAS Heritage: the UK Historic Environment Information
Standard'.

A 'Documentation' or 'Information' Standard - please let us know by 5th
June which one you would prefer, or suggest an alternative.

Thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,

Tanja
