School of Education & Lifelong Learning (Academic Related)
An Exceptional Opportunity for An Exceptional Individual.
An ambitious School Manager is sought for the School of Education and
Lifelong Learning (SELL). One of the leading Schools of Education in the UK
with an international reputation in the field of initial teacher education
and educational research, the School is consistently ranking in the top ten
in relevant league tables and achieved a 5 in the 2001 RAE. Following the
appointment of the current postholder as the University’s Director of
Student Services, this highly successful School is looking for an
experienced and energetic person able to play a full role in helping to
shape its future activities. School Managers make a major contribution to
the strategic development of their schools. You will serve alongside senior
academic colleagues in developing executive, strategic, financial,
administrative, estates and related policy. Through the effective
management of a dedicated team, you will be responsible for the efficient
running of a diverse range of administrative services and play a key role
in the School’s business planning. You will need a firm grasp of financial
and business planning, the ability to see the bigger picture whilst keeping
a firm grip on details, a commitment to teamwork and experience of managing
a large and multi-disciplinary team. Excellent communication skills and the
ability to form effective working relationships with all members of the
university community are also essential prerequisites. Educated to degree
level, it is likely that successful applicants will already have
significant administrative experience gained in the Higher Education
sector. A beautiful campus and an enviable reputation for high quality
teaching and research combine to make Exeter one of the country’s most
popular student destinations. The University aims for high quality in all
that it does and is increasingly professionalizing the administration of
its largest academic units.
Closing date for completed applications is 3 July 2006.
