Similar view from Edinburgh. We also have a serious issue with proposed
timescale for move to XML as we are planning to move to a new student record
system. We will be proposing in our response that HEIs are given the option
of returning in current or new format in autumn 2008. Helpful if others
facing same issue also made this suggestion.

Just to let you know you are not alone, we are also concerned about the
increased level of bureaucracy. Taking the planned changes to the record in
the context of the proposed new funding methodology hopefully institutions
will not only make feelings clear through this consultation but also at the
round of the planned consultations with HEFCE in November. I also think the
sector requires a comprehensive response from Universities UK
