medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
While I understand VKE and FM's sentiment, isn't there some value in
knowing the history of opinion and the development of scholarship of
texts as important to the MAges as biblical texts? I've got an MDiv as
well, and I find myself drawing on the textual scholarship of the OT
and NT all the time--if not simply for the history of opinion but for
how the questions have been formulated and, perhaps more importantly,
what questions have been ignored or not asked. If nothing else, that
knowledge has helped me work through a number of interesting class
sessions here in the US, where a specific interpretation of the Bible
has important social and political implications these days. Or maybe
I'm just stating the obvious . . . ?
If memory serves, isn't much of Jude quoted in some form in 2 Peter?
Best from Anchorage,
Dan
