IMPACT, The International Health Impact Assessment Consortium, Department
of Public Health, University of Liverpool, will be running the next Health
Impact Assessment Training Course 21st - 25th November at Blackburne House
(off Hope Street), Liverpool.
WHAT IS HIA?
HIA identifies and encourages practices and policies that promote health
and wellbeing in a way that is sensitive to the diversity of the local
setting. It is a highly practical and systematic process using a
combination of procedures, methods and tools to identify the likely
affects of a proposed intervention (policy, programme or project) on a
population’s health, and most importantly, looks at the distribution of
those affects across different groups. HIA then considers what changes are
needed to maximise the health benefits and reduce any health risks with
particular emphasis on the reduction of inequalities of health and the
promotion of socially just interventions.
WHO IS IT AIMED AT?
The course is aimed at practitioners in Local Government (eg housing,
planning, environmental health, community development, regeneration), NHS
(eg health promotion, public health, primary care, community, mental
health), the Voluntary Sector and Community Groups: Anyone working to
reduce health and social inequity.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost of the course is £575.
A limited number of subsidised places for the course are available for
those unable to meet the full fee. Priority is given to community groups,
voluntary organisations then PhD students - in that order. No monies are
available for travel and subsistence. If you wish to apply for a
subsidised place, send an outline explaining why you are eligible on no
more than one side of A4.
