medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Although Hrotsvit of Gandersheim is Ottonian, several of her plays
(_Sapientia_, in particular) portray young girls as martyrs under the Roman
emperors.

Has anybody mentioned Christina of Bolsena? She's young (twelve, in
some versions of the legend), supposedly martyred ca. 300, and "Roman"
in the sense that she turns up in Roman calendars and martyrologies --
though she wouldn't make the cut if you're looking for historically
verifiable cases.
