medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Doctissimi,
This is tangentially medieval and equally tangentially religious, but if
someone would offer a response, I'd be grateful.
I just read that for the sacre of Charles VII of France, the Holy Ampulla
had to be brought from Paris to Reims and I'm wondering why it was in Paris
to begin with. Its proper resting place was the abbey of Saint-Remi not far
from N-D de Reims. I'm guessing the turmoil of the 100 Years War had a great
deal to do with this. But had the enemies of Charles "captured" it and moved
it to Paris or had it been spirited there for safekeeping? Or had it been
taken there to anoint Henry V?
More medieval history than medieval religion, but I thought I'd try.
Thanks in advance for any responses,
MG
