Dear Simon,
Warm spring greetings from across the Atlantic.
Before I begin, I would like to confess that I am not an expert in searching
and my clinical librarian colleagues are very good at finding the
appropriate information. However here are my thoughts.
If I do not have a specific question and want to learn more about an
intervention, I might turn to Google scholar which I did and typed in the
word Reiki in the search field. http://scholor.google.com
This provides background information as opposed to foreground information
which is provided by systematic reviews and RCTs.
I learnt that Reiki is the Japanese word for “universal life energy” and it
is a form of healing based on tapping into the unseen flow of energy that
permeates all living things from one of the citations @

My search picked up some of the articles you found through your search.
There were few others.
Olson K, Hanson J. Using Reiki to manage pain: a preliminary report. Cancer
Prev Control. 1997 Jun;1(2):108-13.

Med. 2002 Mar-Apr;8(2):48-53.

practice, and research. Altern Ther Health Med. 2003 Mar-Apr;9(2):62-72.

anxiety. Altern Ther Health Med. 2003 Mar-Apr;9(2):36.

treatment. Altern Ther Health Med. 2003 Mar-Apr;9(2):120, 118.

of pain in advanced cancer patients. J Pain Symptom Manage. 2003
Nov;26(5):990-7.
I am sure you will hear from colleagues on your search methods which
according to me is quite structured and systematic. Especially in an area
like Reiki it is hard to focus the question as the field is still evolving
(at least the evidence base). Enjoy the seminar and do let us know how it
was received by the medical (!) community.
Warm regards & very best wishes,
Badri
