I have just finished a modern novel which treats in part of this period
(_The Dream of Scipio_ by Iain Pears) and the Black Death. I had intended asking
the list whether anyone had read it, and what they made of it, and this
question seems to provide an opportunity to do just that. I enjoyed the book
greatly, and would enjoy knowing the views of people who know more about the
various themes and periods than I do...
I am an amateur in mediaeval history, and on this list because I am
preparing a history of a local church in west Cornwall (UK). Reading _The Dream of
Scipio_ was nothing to do with that task but, being on this list, asking
opinions about it seemed too good a chance to miss.
