medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Ah, dawns the light. A google search of "in virum perfectum" will show all sorts
of connections by patristic authors, since it is a quotation/allusion to
Ephesians 4.13 and must certainly be read with that in mind. Ambrose and others
are applying the ready-made scriptural words to their interests/issues, not
constructing phraseology de novo.
