Announcement of the
Deutsch-Französische Hochschule Université Franco-Allemande (DFH-UFA)
Summer School at Freiberg, Germany on June 29 to July 8, 2005
"Textures and Microstructures in the Earth Sciences"
Organized by Helmut Schaeben (Freiberg) and David Mainprice
(Montpellier)
Textures and microstructures are produced by thermo-mechanical
processes called
'deformation history'. A fascinating assortment of state-of-the-art
technologies has revolutionised the research in this field now allowing
for
applications extending from the Earth's surface to the core.
Apply to the DFH-UFA summer school in Freiberg, Germany to learn about:
- the most recent technologies of texture measurements
- the effects of deformation processes on textures
- the inter-relationships between deformation, texture and physical
properties
- texture measurement, data processing and interpretation applying the
latest
theoretical developments
Join the summer school and benefit from
- lectures from the world's leading specialists from Earth and Material
sciences
- one week of international studies and discussions
- field trips to the 'Reiche Zeche' mine and to the 'Granulitgebirge'
providing
insight into the 'deformation history' of rocks in the field
