Somewhat tangentially,
I'm using mapping in Java (nio) for access to large tables, and there
are big performance advantages to doing so. I haven't noticed
any problems (admittedly I'm usually on a local disk), and didn't
realise that this was known dodgy over NFS. However, I'm only using
it for read access. Does anybody have wisdom/advice/experience
about whether read-only mapping over NFS is a questionable practice?
