I wrote earlier:
She was called P E T A. It was pronounced like Peter but was spelled
>with the "a" because she was a she.
Local gossip said that her parents were expecting to have a boy who was to
be "Peter". When the baby turned out to be a girl, they couldn't think of
another name in time for registration and so feminised the one they had
decided upon.
Isn't the correct feminine Christian name Petronilla ? A saintly lady of
dubious authenticity supposed to be St Peter's daughter and to be seen
carrying Daddy's keys ??? (FD 31 May) - But we know St Peter was married
since he had a mother-in-law .....
