Well, not exactly. The name Felixstowe is the restored form (it was
Filchestou in 1254) and it means 'Felix's place of periodic assembly'. It
is a late name, and seems to have replaced Domnoc or Dommoc (Irish for
'church building') as the name applied to the Saxon Shore Fort of Walton
Castle.
