Dear Humphrey,
The National Library holds a significant number of manuscript field
survey sheets from the 2nd Survey, dated 1961-66 at scales of 1:25,000 &
1:10,560 (county series & Nat. Grid). I have not tried to determine our
exact holdings; they mainly cover Wales, but do appear to include a few
sheets for the Marches. There is also some accompanying material -
tracings, index maps etc.
This material was deposited by the late J. A. Taylor from the Geography
Dept. at UWA. Access was restricted and permission had to be sought from
him. I am unsure of the current situation; but am in touch with the
Geography Dept. to try to clarify matters. I will let you know what
transpires.
I am not aware of our holding anything similar for the 1930s survey; but
will check with my colleagues and let you know if there is any material
from that period here.
Best wishes,
Huw
