medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From one Pope to another!
"Drink deep" always puts me in mind of these lines from the same poet's
Epistle to Bathurst (_Moral Essays_, III):
"Whole slaughter'd hecatombs, and floods of wine,
Fill the capacious Squire, and deep Divine."
But we are no longer being medieval.
Best,
John Dillon
