medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear all,
Many thanks for you replies to my question about mystical marriage! I will check the suggested texts and books as far as its possible (my Italian is bit rusty, for instance, but I welcome the suggestions in Italian as well..).
I would, however, like to clarify my original question. I am interested in descriptions of mystical union that include the public and ceremonial aspect of marriage and especially those that include the ritual of bedding (i hope this is the correct word in English - I mean the public practice of leading the bride into the bed of groom and covering them with the blanket - after which they consummate they marriage). In Friedrich Sunder's texts Mary leads the bride in bed and the whole court of heaven seems to witness this while they are present afterwards ready to continue the banquet.
All further comments are welcome!
Best,
Meri
