Praise where it's due.....
Having had experience of a number of television companies on various projects and recalling list discussions about the recent extreme archaeology and TIme Team programmes I thought it appropriate to sing the praises of Redweather Productions - (Based in Bristol at the Easton Business Centre - Email [log in to unmask])
This company was responsible for the recent "Secret Underground" production for ITV1 West
The series was well received and was also well made both in terms of quality of the filming and accuracy of the subject matter presented. The series included coverage of caving and cave diving as well as the Redcliffe Caves (Sand mines), the underground Stone Quarries in the Bath area and Coal Mining in Bristol/Somerset and the Forest of Dean.
Furthermore - following the filming the company continued the contact and have subsequently sent us video footage of material that was not used in the series including helicopter shots and the underwater filming where the camera was lowered down the shaft at Oldwood Colliery. They also sent a DVD of the complete series. All of this is in addition to a sizeable donation that they made to the South Gloucestershire Mines Research Group at the time of filming.
So often with Media companies when the shots are "in the can" and your assistance is no longer required, getting a return of a phone call or email is difficult enough let alone any material that they promised when they had need of you.
It is nice to be able to report a company with a different approach and recommend them to anyone considering such a project.
Regards
David Hardwick
