Weeel, possibly getting me into trouble again, but I actively encourage
some of these practices. For instance, I often ask students to swap lecture
notes and then discuss with the producer why s/he thought the bits they put
down were important etc. (just a less formal version of the student minute
taker)
In courses assessed with course work, I also have seminars where students
give progress reports" to the class and often distribute drafts of their
work as part of this.(this assumes though that students have different
tasks, never thought about what I would do if students had the same essay
question)
The only difference with library books and publications is that these are
peer reviewed by academics, and students should learn how to treat sources
with different levels of "quality control".
