Saroyan's "cricket" - when it received an NEA writers grant for $5,000
circa 1974 - threw the right wing in the US Congress into a righteous rage,
(That is not art, and we will stop funding the literature program, etc.)
God knows what "suckle, suckle, suckle" might have done to some of their
poor lecherous and/or infantile hearts.
