Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to clarify that when I posted to the list at the end of April,
I was thanking Ingenta for sorting out all the 2005 access problems that we
had identified on IngentaConnect, and which I reported to this list at the
end of March 2005. That didn't mean that we no longer had any access
problems with IngentaConnect, there are no doubt many that we have yet to
identify and get resolved. We've identified several problems since that
posting.
Whilst I understand completely the frustration and angst that these access
problems cause, can I please ask that when people post messages about the
problems they are facing with a particular publisher/service to this list,
that they try and do so in a professional manner.
As you all know, this list is not moderated at present, and I would like
that to remain the case. However, because this list is unmoderated I rely on
people posting to this list to do so in a constructive way. We all of us
need, librarians/publishers/agents/intermediaries etc.., to work together to
resolve these problems.
I don't know if it's just me, but 2005 has been the most difficult year I
can remember in terms setting up/maintaining online access to the titles we
should have a right to access, and it hasn't only been IngentaConnect that
has presented problems.
Roll on 2006 renewals!
Cheers
Lesley

Subject: Is IngentaConnect working for you?
Dear all,
I notice that Lesley Crawshaw posted to the list at the end of April
thanking Ingenta for resolving the problems with 2005 access. Does that mean
that I am the only one who is still having problems accessing 2005 subs and
various other years' issues too? There are titles which do not show a
subscription at all where we have a long-standing subscription. My two most
recent examples are both published by SNAME - Marine Technology and Journal
of Ship Research. We have paid for subscriptions to these titles yet there
is no "S" next to the titles on IngentaConnect. Having dug around on the
web, I have found the old Ingenta Select pages which allow us access to
content up to and including 2004. I emailed Ingenta about this on 25/05/2005
and 27/05/2005 but have only received an automated response. I was also
given a suspiciously short subscriber number to set up our access to
Austrian Studies and, as I expected, this has not worked.
I'd be grateful if you could let me know whether it's just us that's still
struggling!!
Cheers
Anna
