Dear colleagues
We wish to draw to your attention the IAGA Symposium GAV06:
Uses and applications of geomagnetic field models.
The aim of this symposium is to bring together users and modelers so as to
foster better interaction and mutual understanding. Have YOU an
application that modelers have not thought about? What do users want from
models of the internal and external fields and what are the problems users
have in applying models? How does truncation level affect you? Do you
have a need for a truly continuous, rather than piece-wise continuous,
internal model? Would you prefer to use a more accurate model, even if it
meant waiting to get some model parameters (such as Dst) which are
available only after considerable delay? We need to hear from YOU about
YOUR problems/preferences. This session is for users and modelers alike,
and we specifically encourage examples of the techniques used in the
application of these models to benefit science and society. We welcome
examples by users from both the external and internal geomagnetic
communities.
This Symposium will be held at the IAGA Scientific Assembly at Toulouse, in
the morning and afternoon of Thursday 28 July. The deadline for receipt
of abstracts by paper is 13 March, and by the COSIS system it is 27 March.
